Flagstaff and Williams area Fishing Report
Fishing is still excellent at Kaibab Lake and Dogtown Lake right now. Folks are catching big trout on Lower Lake Mary early in the morning and late in the evening out of boats and float tubes.
Remember Knoll Lake is Closed to access because of the HighLine Fire
Dogtown Lake is fishing well with some really nice rainbows being caught. Folks are catching fish on green garlic powerbait or lures and flies.
Kaibab Lake received a bonus stocking of Channel Catfish on last Tuesday and another load last Friday. Fishing was EXCELLENT on Saturday with folks are catching everything (trout, bluegill crappie and catfish) on worms fished under a bobber. All of the fish were being caught close to shore. Hotdogs on the bottom were also working for catfish. I saw one angler catching a lot of crappie on a green mini jig.
City Reservoir, Santa Fe Reservoir and Cataract Lake were all stocked with channel catfish last week with City getting another load yesterday.
Ashurst Lake was stocked with 9,000 bonus trout last Wednesday, another 6,600 on fast Friday and 2,100 on Tuesday. Folks were catching fish on lures and powerbait Tuesday.
Frances Short Pond was stocked with Channel Catfish last Tuesday, Friday, and yesterday. I was catching them this morning on hotdogs fished under a bobber. Folks using worms under a bobber were also catching catfish. Folks flyfishing were catching bluegill, crappie and trout in the morning while I was there.
Lower Lake Mary Folks fishing from boats or wading past the weeds are still catching some really big trout early in the morning and in the evenings. Fishing with worms under a bobber has been a good method to catch trout up to 21 inches with all of the fish being really fat. Folks are also catching fish on Flies and lures.
