Fishing Report: North Central region
High winds over the past week made angling difficult. No recent reports are available.
Kaibab Lake, Ashurst Lake, City Reservoir and Santa Fe Reservoir were all stocked with rainbow trout this Monday instead of being stocked next week so the hatchery could empty the raceways the fish were in to allow them to repair them The fish stocked were all nice sized fish.
WILLIAMS LAKES:
KAIBAB LAKE — The lake was stocked last week with trout. Lake was stocked Monday.
CATARACT LAKE — No recent report. Cataract should have quite a few holdover trout from last year’s stockings along with one stocking from this year. Stocked last week. This may be a sleeper spot this spring.
CITY RESERVOIR — No recent report, gate is open. Stocked last week and was stocked on Monday.
DOGTOWN LAKE — No report but fishing should be good. Stocked last week.
SANTA FE — No recent report. Stocked last week and was stocked on Monday.
WHITEHORSE LAKE — Gate is closed. Whitehorse was stocked with largemouth bass last month. The fish stocked were 5-8 inches long. The minimum size you can keep bass in Whitehorse is 13 inches. Please release all of the bass caught this year so we can get them established. More bass will equal bigger crappie in the long run.
FLAGSTAFF LAKES:
LOWER LAKE MARY – I am still getting reports of fly and lure anglers catching holdover fish from last year. The ones being caught are really nice sized fish.
UPPER LAKE MARY — No report
ASHURST LAKE — Fishing was good to excellent on last Saturday before the winds came. Folks were catching trout on almost any color of PowerBait with the garlic scented versions being the most successful. Folks fishing along the rock walls were doing better than the folks fishing in the shallow areas. No report for this past week, but I would bet things haven’t changed. All of the trout I saw on stringers were nice sized fish. The lake was stocked last week. The lake was stocked on Monday
FRANCIS SHORT POND – The pond is being stocked weekly with rainbow trout. Folks using flies and lures are catching lots of fish. Bait anglers are catching fish on worms and garlic PowerBait. I am hearing reports of some bigger trout being caught. The lake was stocked on Monday
KINNIKINICK LAKE —No reports.
OAK CREEK — No report. Stocked last week and was stocked on Monday.
BEAVER CREEK – Stocked last week.
WEST CLEAR CREEK-. Stocked last week.
BLUE RIDGE — The lake is very low and we are not planning on stocking it this year.
KNOLL LAKE — The lake is low, but we plan on stocking it this year.
