Don M.: Friday, June 7, on Lake Mead out of South Cove — in 6 1/2 hours we caught 139 fish, 124 stripers and 15 channel cats (above)! The photo of the guy holding the two stripers (above) is Kingman resident Jay Chan. Using two rods, Jay caught these stripers on Lake Mead Friday night. The picture of the guy/gal are Golden Valley residents Colin Crowder and Laura Borden — they caught these stripers on our Friday night trip to Lake Mead. Four anglers caught 139 fish, 124 stripers and 15 channel cats. Striper and catfishing is very good on Lake Mead right now. It will stay good until the moon comes back. I have found that on nights when we have a lot of moon, the fishing tends not to be as good as it is when it is on the dark of the moon. I use HydraGlow submersible fishing lights and found them to be very effective to draw in plankton, which in turn draws in minnows and shad.
