Average daytime water temp: 74 degrees
Stripers are hitting cast and trolled top-water lures like 1-ounce Rat-L-Traps in Glo & Silverado colors, and Pointer 128 jerkbaits, from 5-8 a.m.
Fishing cut bait (anchovies/sardines) has been very productive at the entrance to the river north to Mohave Rock. Largemouth bass are hitting poppers and frogs during the first 2 hours in the morning and then again during the last 2 hours of light in the evening. Midday bite good around shady pockets in cattails and tulles using slowly falling plastics like Senkos, Gitzits and brush hogs. Green pumpkin, and watermelon red have been productive colors.
Redear sunfish are hitting good on crappie tubes and nightcrawlers on shallow reefs and flats where they spawn. Nighttime catfish bite has been excellent on cut mackerel and 3-6-inch live bluegills. Best time has been 7 p.m. -2 a.m. has been the best time to target “BIG” cats.
