Greenfield Pond (Mesa)
Some anglers around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at Greenfield Pond in Mesa were catching big, healthy rainbow trout like these pictured above. The water temperature was 56.5 degrees: great for trout fishing. During a roughly 20-minute span that afternoon, a few rainbows were caught and other anglers reported at least five bites. Best baits for stocked rainbow trout can include small spinners (“flashy” colors such as gold or silver) or PowerBait.
That day, AZGFD stocked Greenfield Pond, located in Greenfield Park at 4105 E Diamond Ave. in Mesa, with extra fish (more than planned) — a total of 280 pounds of trout into the 2.5-acre pond. Other “expansion” waters also were stocked that day. See the stocking schedule.
