Fishing Report: Colorado River waters
The striper bite is holding here along the Colorado River below the Davis Dam. These linesiders are mostly in the 1- to 3-pound range. Anchovies are producing well.
Community Park remains to be a great spot. Our parks people have done a great job on getting our community some of the best beach access one could ask for. Whether you are fishing, or just relaxing, it’s a win for all.
One of our local anglers Jeff Lovett landed a couple of stripers just under the 2-pound range using anchovies from shore. Raul Gonzelez was fishing from shore at our nature center and landed a few stripers. Our local angler was using anchovies and this area is another of our great spots for fishing or just relaxing and enjoying our river.
Topock Marsh
We do have some news from the Topock Marsh area. Dennis Baldwin and fishing buddy Jasper were out on Dennis’s newly acquired boat and using his favorite chicken livers — they were able land a few channel cats.
Lake Mohave
I am not sure why, but up on Lake Mohave it’s not a striper bite as of yet. If you hear of anything, please let us know. I know it’s a bit on the warm side but we should be getting some striper action.
The evening has been doing a little better and not as brutal on our anglers due to our heat this time of year. I have gotten some news of some smallmouth bass in the 3-pound range with plastics and some crankbaits working.
We hope this helps for now and thanks for your support.
