This angler caught some big cutthroat (left) rainbow (right) trout Wednesday off the bottom with cowbells and nightcrawlers. Try blue cowbells during sunny mornings.
Fishing is fair to good. Ray from the Big Lake Store said anglers are catching some big rainbow trout to 4 pounds primarily on PowerBait. Many fish have been moving deeper the past couple weeks into about 20 feet of water, and anglers still can reach them from shore. Overall, fishing has been good one day, and slow the next. Try nymph grape PowerBait once it starts raining. Also, some cutthroat trout might be moving in shallow during evenings around Railroad Cove and rising on midges. You can use a fly with a casting bubble if you don’t own or know how to use a fly rod.
The above angler caught rainbow and cutthroat trout trolling blue cowbells (above) during a sunny morning Wednesday, as well as dropping nightcrawlers right off the bottom.
