Bonita Creek backpack electrofishing survey for Brook Trout
The Department conducted a backpack electrofishing survey of Bonita Creek, which is a small perennial creek that originates along the Mogollon Rim. Crews sampled 33 Brook Trout at a rate of 67.8 fish/hour. This is an increase of just over 70% when compared to 2010 survey data. The average trout was six inches in total length, with the largest being just over eight inches. Bonita Creek offers a unique opportunity both on the rim and in the state as we have few places to catch Brook Trout.
