Flagstaff and Williams Area Fishing Report
CITY RESERVOIR — Folks were still catching Catfish on the lake using “anything smelly” according to our Wildlife Manager.
DOGTOWN LAKE — We sampled the lake last Wednesday night and found a lot of Trout along the south shoreline near the day use area. It looks like there was a good Crappie and Bass spawn this spring since we caught a lot of 2-3 inch Crappie and 3-4 inch Largemouth Bass in our survey. The Bass and Crappie along the north shore were we have been sinking trees for fish habitat. We also caught one nice Largemouth Bass. The lake was stocked with Rainbow Trout Monday. I would try garlic powerbait for trout. Try the North shore line with worms under a bobber for Crappie and Bluegill.
SANTA FE — Folks are still catching Yellow Perch and Crappie on worms and mealworms fished 1-3 feet under a bobber on the shallow end. Trout were also being caught on Garlic power bait.
FRANCIS SHORT POND – The pond is muddy from last week’s runoff so we will wait until next week to start stocking trout in the pond.
KINNIKINICK LAKE —As of 8/23/16 we have stocked about 35,000 Rainbow Trout in Kinnikinick in the last 3 weeks. These freshly stocked fish will be easier to catch on spinners, small spoons and flies than on powerbait as they adapt to being in the lake. If the weather holds Page Springs Hatchery will start stocking catchable Brown Trout this week.
