Flagstaff and Williams Area Fishing Report
DOGTOWN LAKE — With the water temperatures starting to cool the trout fishing has picked up. I received a report from one of my coworkers that he was catching nice size Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout on flies Saturday along the north shore of the lake.
SANTA FE — Saturday my son and I fished Santa Fe. We caught rainbow trout and yellow perch on worms fished about 3 feet under a bobber.
FRANCIS SHORT POND – The fall Rainbow Trout stocking season has begun on Frances Short Pond. Fishing has been good for trout using garlic powerbait under a bobber. Folks using flies and lures have also been catching trout. The lake will be stocked this week.
KINNIKINICK LAKE —As of 9/27/16 we have stocked about 49,000 Rainbow Trout and 10,000 Brown Trout in Kinnikinick. These freshly stocked fish will be easier to catch on spinners, small spoons and flies than on powerbait as they adapt to being in the lake. My coworker fished the lake on Saturday and was catching both Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout on joe’s flies in the royal coachman pattern, small kastmasters, spinners, and flies. He caught a couple of nice size Rainbow Trout along with a nice size Brown Trout along with some stocker size fish. We will be holding a fishing event October 1st on Kinnikinick Lake.
