From Mark Knapp at Alamo Lake State Park: At this point the lake has been lowered to 1,101 feet and still releasing. The CORE is planning on stopping at 1,100. The main ramp is gone and closed down. If this ends as planned I will have about 5 to 8 ft of water left at Cholla ramp which will keep it open for a month or so. I also opened the dirt ramp and so far so good.
This is all in theory, of course, but I feel pretty good about it. As far as fishing, the crappie fishing is still decent after talking to some anglers today. The bass did not seem to be effected and has some decent fishing, too. I’m sure by the end of May we will have to put up the no skiing/towable devices signs again. Th major concern is that no contracts are in place and no one knows how long the repairs will take. I’m thinking the lake is going to be low for the next year or two. Just my thoughts after working with them all year.
Andrew T.: I caught this 15 inch 2 pound crappie (above) from Alamo Lake last weekend.
