Red Mountain Lake (Mesa)
Todd B: It is Todd B here from up in Wa. I just read the fishing report from the 15th. I happened to be on Red Mountain two weeks ago. Your report is correct. Those stocked largemouth bass were nice. You stated that the bass were stocked at 2-4 pounds. However, I can say first hand that a few closer to 6 pounds were hitting lures. I caught seven the day I was there, three others caught a handful too. Only one fisherman kept a single fish out of the 20 or so I saw get caught that day. I had a blast being back in Mesa on one of my favorite local waters in AZ.
Quick note – Some of the bass we were catching at Red Mountain had lures in their mouths, which means we have to be careful when we tie our knots (on the positive of those break offs, I collected about $30 in Rapala lures from those fish’s mouths).
Here are a few photos from that day. These were landed on a Spro BBZ-1 Shad (2.5″, 1/4 oz) in Rainbow pattern.
