Lake Pleasant
We’ve been fishing stripers at Lake Pleasant for 10 years and in the general manner throwing swim baits, using anchovies and lights at night in the bays and no-wake zones. Generally catching fish from small up to 24 inches.

14 year old Dale Hardenbergh
Early this spring we switched over using our Ocean 4-ounce jigheads and 9-inch tailed Big Hammer swimbaits. We caught larger fish in the same bays but got snagged up a lot.
Now we troll in the blue water outside the bays along the edges of the original riverbed and island drop-offs in 75 to 100 feet of water trolling at 4.3 mph at about 15 feet or at the thermocline depth with heavy rods in rod holders.
Once a larger fish is caught we will stay in that general area and usually there is more of the same size fish or bigger.
My 6-foot-2 grandson calls them stripe-asaurus Rex.
All of these large fish have 16 inch or larger stripers head-first in their stomachs. All the larger fish have been caught in very specific areas.
PS: We release largemouth bass and eat all stripers.
