Alert: Woods Canyon Lake fishing is good, but boat ramp closed through weekend
The lake is getting stocked with rainbow trout and tiger trout during the next several days, so the fishing should be pretty good for the holiday weekend.
But the boat ramp will NOT be open for Memorial Day weekend. The parking area in front of the boat ramp has been under construction since the roads opened in the spring in order to to resurface the parking areas and roads with asphalt. Because of the long winter and unseasonably wet/snowy weather this spring, the last piece of asphalt right in front of the boat ramp has not been placed and won’t be finished this week because of yesterdays storm and another forecast for tomorrow.
It is now expected to open on May 31 at the earliest, with the weather next week dictating the ability to finish that work.
The entire shoreline is still open to shore anglers. People can park single vehicles down by the store, just not in the turnaround area at the boat ramp. They are prohibiting vehicles with boat trailers from driving down the hill to the store area because there is no turnaround space for a vehicle and trailer (that is in the area still under construction).
Vehicles with trailers will have to park in the overflow parking at the top of the hill. People can carry kayaks and canoes to the water, but just can’t launch from a boat trailer. The concessionaire also rents boats, kayaks, and canoes, which will be available all weekend long.
