Watch a video of last week’s Flathead Catfish Survey at Bartlett Lake
Watch a video from last week’s Flathead Catfish Survey at Bartlett Lake. Get a unique view from the biologist netting Flathead Catfish in the what we call the “Chase Boat”. The Chase Boat does exactly what it sounds like. The boat chases down any Flathead Catfish that pop up on the surface of the water. The other boat in the video is the electroshocking boat. The electroshocking boat is putting out a low amperage current into the water that pulls Flathead Catfish to the surface. The current stuns the fish and results in the fish floating or skittering along the surface of the water. We conduct Flathead Catfish Surveys at Bartlett Lake annually to provide managers with up to date information on the population, size structure, and the health of the fish. For more information on the survey results go to A Day in the Field: Bartlett Flathead Catfish Survey.
